At TaxLink.ca (“we,” “us,” or “the Platform”), we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our marketplace to connect with professional tax firms.
1. Our “No-Sensitive-Data” Principle
To ensure maximum security for Canadian taxpayers:
- Direct Transmission: TaxLink.ca does not collect, view, or store sensitive tax documents (such as SIN, T4, T5, or financial statements).
- Secure Portals: All sensitive documents must be uploaded directly to the independent accounting firm’s (the “Vendor”) encrypted secure portal. We provide the link; the Vendor handles the data.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect non-sensitive information necessary to facilitate the connection and payment:
- Contact Data: Name, email address, and phone number.
- Order Details: Type of tax service purchased and your province of residence (for tax calculation).
- Payment Data: We use secure third-party processors (e.g., Stripe/PayPal). We do not store your credit card or bank account details on our servers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your non-sensitive data to:
- Facilitate communication between you and your selected Tax Pro.
- Process payments and issue service receipts.
- Notify you of order status updates.
- Comply with Canadian legal and regulatory requirements.
4. Data Sharing
We share your contact information only with the specific accounting firm you have hired. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third-party marketers.
5. Data Security
While we do not store tax documents, we employ industry-standard security measures (including SSL encryption and Wordfence firewalls) to protect your account information and ensure a secure browsing experience.
6. Quebec Residents
TaxLink.ca currently serves residents of all Canadian provinces except Quebec. We do not intentionally collect data from residents of Quebec.
7. Your Rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and request corrections. To do so, please contact our Privacy Officer at: admin@taxlink.ca.
