Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 14, 2026

Welcome to TaxLink.ca (the “Platform”). By using our website and services, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must immediately discontinue the use of this Platform.

1. Nature of the Marketplace

TaxLink.ca is an online marketplace platform that connects Canadian taxpayers (“Clients”) with independent professional accounting firms, tax preparers, and tax professionals (“Vendors”).

  • No Professional Advisory Relationship: TaxLink.ca is NOT a tax preparation firm, an accounting firm, or a law firm. We do not provide tax, legal, financial, or accounting advice.
  • Independent Contractors: All tax compliance, planning, and filing services are provided solely and independently by the respective Vendors. No employer-employee, agency, or joint-venture relationship exists between TaxLink.ca and any Vendor.

2. Geographic Restrictions (Exclusion of Quebec)

TaxLink.ca limits its platform, availability, and marketplace services exclusively to residents of Canadian provinces and territories excluding the Province of Quebec.

  • The Platform does not support the preparation or filing of Quebec provincial tax returns (Revenu Québec).
  • If you are a resident of Quebec, you are strictly prohibited from purchasing services or registering an account on this Platform. Any transactions initiated by Quebec residents will be cancelled, subject to standard administrative cancellation fees.

3. Vendor Qualifications & Client Due Diligence

While TaxLink.ca implements reasonable screening procedures to verify that Vendors hold a valid Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) EFILE Number for the current tax year, TaxLink.ca does not guarantee the competence, accuracy, or professional standing of any Vendor. Clients are solely responsible for performing their own due diligence, checking credentials, and interviewing Vendors before engaging their services.

4. Data Privacy and Sensitive Document Transmission

To ensure compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA):

  • Direct Transmission Required: Clients must upload all sensitive tax and financial documentation (including but not limited to Social Insurance Numbers (SIN), T4, T5, and bank statements) directly to the Vendor’s independent, encrypted, and secure portal.
  • No Platform Liability: TaxLink.ca does not view, collect, handle, or store your sensitive tax documents. TaxLink.ca shall not be liable for any data breaches, losses, or unauthorized access occurring within a Vendor’s independent data environment.

5. Fees, Extra Charges, and Refund Policy

  • Service Fees & Commission: Clients pay the advertised service fee at the time of booking via our designated secure third-party payment processors. TaxLink.ca retains a platform commission and facilitates the distribution of the remainder to the Vendor.
  • Scope Changes & Extra Charges: The upfront fee covers the baseline scope of the purchased package. If the Client’s tax situation involves unforeseen complexities or additional schedules, the Vendor may independently quote additional fees. Such extra charges are negotiated and handled directly between the Client and the Vendor outside the Platform’s standard baseline pricing.
  • Refund Policy: Once a Vendor has commenced review or initiated data entry for a return, all paid marketplace fees are strictly non-refundable. Any billing or service-quality disputes must be resolved directly between the Client and the Vendor.

6. Limitation of Liability and Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Canadian law, TaxLink.ca (including its directors, officers, and operators) shall NOT be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages resulting from:

  • Any errors, mathematical inaccuracies, omissions, or processing delays in tax returns prepared or transmitted by Vendors.
  • Any penalties, late-filing fees, interest accumulations, or audits initiated by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or any provincial tax authority.
  • Any failure by a Vendor to meet statutory federal or provincial tax filing deadlines.

Indemnification: By using the Platform, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless TaxLink.ca from any claims, liabilities, or expenses arising out of your breach of these Terms or your interactions with any Vendor.

7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Canada and the laws of the Province of British Columbia. Any legal actions, disputes, or mediation arising directly from the use of this Platform must be brought exclusively in the courts located within the Province of British Columbia.
